Andy Babb

Greetings! My name is Andy Babb. I am a singer/songwriter from the plains of Colorado. Born to a preachin’ pa and a teachin’ ma I was raised constantly speaking in front of people, singing in the church, and entertaining the numerous guests we had at our house. I have been singing and making noise as long as I can remember. I started getting deep into songwriting after a baseball accident when I was 16. I was bed ridden for 4 months with a ruptured spleen. I have learned over the years that if we look at the bright side of what some may see as awful then there are no accidents, no failures, no mistakes: only opportunities for learning and growth. I have been extremely blessed with an amazing, loving, and supporting family who has given me a solid foundation to stand upon. I know who I am because I know where I come from. I mean that in both an eternal and a more immediate sense. My music is a direct reflection of my beliefs, my experiences and my emotions. My main goal in life is to give people a feeling of connection when they see my show or hear my music. I want others to feel as loved, as blessed, and as connected as I feel on a daily basis. My songs come from many places but they each help me make sense of the world around me, and it is my hope that my listeners will feel the same way. I am a man who loves travel, adventure, spirituality and new experiences. My musical roots can be followed back to my parents record collection and musical tastes from the 60’s and 70’s. They include: James Taylor, Jim Croce, Joe Cocker, Carly Simon, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Bread just to name a few. My modern influences include Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, Pete Yorn, The Tallest Man on Earth, Mumford and Sons, and The Shins. After working as a youth pastor and worship leader in Billings, Montana the year after college I decided to sell my car and buy a 1976 motor home. I travelled around the US, living in the motorhome for 2 years. During that time I had many interesting experiences and met many great people. I lived in South Dakota working as a soil conservationist, in Colorado as a youthful vagabond and in Montana as a UPS Driver. The cold of the north and my love of music led to California where I was a student at Musicians Institute. While at M.I. I started recorded the album Re.Creation. At the same time I was putting together a group of talented musicians who eventually found the name “”The Big Beautiful Band””. Re.Creation was finished in Dec. of 2011 with the help of the band and our talented guitarist Pat Hanson who mixed and mastered the album. After a great year of gigging and hustling around LA, I felt I needed a change. Not only that, but I also fell in love. So, I did the most logical thing I could and sold most of my life’s possessions, as well as the mo ho, and came to Europe with my lovely girlfriend Sara. We are currently living in Stockholm, Sweden with her amazing family and have been traveling around Europe whenever we can. We will be in the UK in October and I will return to the U.S. in January of 2013…if the world doesn’t end ; ). Music is a way of life for us and I pray that the path in front of us is as wonderfully winding as the one which led us here. We’d love to come sing with you sometime…. Remember, life is only as good as you think it is. So put on my music and treat yourself to a smile on me! Peace and Blessings
