Kalandra is a six-piece alternative folk/rock band based in Liverpool. The band consists of musicians originating from England, The Isle of Man and Norway lead by vocalist and songwriter Katrine Stenbekk. The music draws influences from Norse and Celtic folk songs with a powerful mix of unforgettable melodies, dark themes and heavy arrangements.

Kalandra released their debut single, “Sell Your Voice”, in November 2013 and got airplay on radio channels such as The Best of British, BeatFM, FolkRadioUK and other local radio stations. Dave Monks of BBC Merseyside also graced “Sell Your Voice” with four weeks of airtime on BBC Introducing.

The band released a music video for their B-side, “Not Some Fairytale”, in January 2014. Self produced, written and filmed in the mountains of Norway, the video received a warm welcome and got good reviews both in the UK and Norway. Check out Kalandra’s debut video here:

Kalandra was recently in Parr St. Studios and recorded four new tracks, with help from Producer and Mix Engineer, Tony Draper (Justice Collective #1 Christmas 2012, Gold). The bands latest single, “Onto The Fire”, was released at Kalandra’s next “Northern Lights” event at the East Village Arts Club in Liverpool on April 25th.
